Abigail once broke off their engagement when she learned that Rick was the father of one of Blake Marler's twins. Now she and Rick have reconciled and are very happy. Abigail is originally from the Amish-type community of Goshen. Hearing impaired, she suffered from migraine headaches. Came to Springfield to receive treatment for her migraine headaches, now cured. Stayed with the Bauers while undergoing treatment and learning ASL. Sent to a training school in New York by Alan Spaulding. Returned with a whole new look. Currently works at Cedar's Hospital. Until 1997, thought to be the daughter of Alan. Sister of Alan and Alexandra, half-sister of Morgan Richards. Aunt of Phillip and Alan-Michael. Previously married to Gordon Middleton, Ben McFarren. Previously engaged to Roger Thorpe Previously involved with Ross Marler, Mark Evans. Amanda apparently overcame her frigidity when she moved to Los Angeles. There she was as Mandy Harper, a Madam with a stable of young lovelies including hunky Matt Reardon. Amanda was in big trouble with the IRS for not paying taxes on her LA income but she sold her stock in Spaulding and wiggled out of it. Alan had her arrested (on Christmas Eve) and extradited to California on charges of pandering. Roger got her out of jail and they returned to Springfield to announce their engagement to the family, originally just way to throw Alan off balance, now Amanda seems serious about Roger. She's offered to give him a family. When Amanda discovered her true paternity whe froze Spaulding assets so her rightful inheritance could be determined. Recently she called a truce, asking only that Alan be reinstated in the company, she wants to put the family back together. She claims Roger influenced her (he's always putting family first). Does she see the same Roger we all love to hate?

Annie Dutton Annie Dutton
played by Cynthia Watros (since 1996). Currently involved with Alan Spaulding. Previously married to Josh Lewis, Rick Bauer. Previously involved with Jake. Formerly a nurse at Cedar's Hospital and Physical Therapist to Alan. Annie is a recovering alcoholic. She began having headaches shortly after Reva returned to town and started taking medication for her migrains. She soon became addicted. She finally hit bottom when she lost her job and her family and friends did an intervention. During the process Annie spilled several pots of beans. She told Rick one of Blake's twins was his and she told Josh of Reva & Marah's pinky promise. (Reva had promised Marah to make everything right so Marah, Shayne, Annie and Josh could be a family. To bring this about Reva married Buzz and told Josh she was playing him for a fool). So Josh went back to Annie. After the intervention, Phillip helped Annie through the withdrawal. After only a few meetings, Annie called herself "cured" and switched her obsession to Josh and the idea that a baby would make everything right between them. Though Josh wanted to wait, Annie was determined. When she couldn't get her wish naturally (and with a little bit of diaphram sabotage), Annie turned to science and had herself artificially inseminated (not Josh's seed). It didn't take the first time, but Annie was persistent. So with the help of Fran (blackmail goes a long way) Annie succeeded the second time. Of course she'd already told Josh she was pregnant, at least a month before she actually conceived. Josh decided to stay with Annie, he was concerned she would go back to pills and alcohol if he left her. Annie still felt Josh slipping away, so with the help of Alan she cooked up a scheme to make Reva think she was her long lost sister Dannie. Reva fell for it for awhile, then discovered the lie. Annie began having abdominal pains so Alan took her to a doctor. There she was told that her baby was dead. Annie left the doctor's office, telling no one about her baby. The following night she picked a fight with Reva, then grabbed Reva's hand and threw herself down the stairs. She later claimed that Reva pushed her. When Reva accused Annie of getting artificially inseminated, Annie made sure that the remains of her baby disappeared so that they could not be tested. Reva went on trial for murder. The truth finally came out when Blake exposed Annie for the blackmailer she was. Reva was set free and the judge held Annie in contempt. Annie was devastated and collapsed. (She was suffering from an infection from losing the baby and not receiving proper treatment). Annie can never bear children. She has now moved in with Alan, who adores her. It appears that she hasn't learned her lesson yet, she's pursuing Reva's sister again. She has some plan to use her against Josh & Reva.

Previously involved with Alan Spaulding, Gary Swanson, Frank Cooper and Rick Bauer (Kevin's father). Blake knew Annie had herself artificially inseminated and pretended to be Reva's sister. Wouldn't tell, because Annie was blackmailing her with the fact that Blake bugged Ross' phone and went through his legal files to help Annie get info on Reva's search for her sister. Of course Annie blackmailed her into doing that, (she threatened to tell Ross about the twins' true parentage). Racked by guilt about what she knew, Blake finally came forward in the last hour. Annie was exposed. Ross was as usual upset and angry, but decided that he could forgive Blake if she promised never to make a mistake again. Blake balked (Go, Girl!) and told Ross that wasn't good enough. He was going to have to accept her the way she was, mistakes and all. Blake decided to take a minivacation to get away and think. When Blake's purse was stolen Ross, Holly and Roger were given a fright. Police showed up at Ross' door and asked him to come down to the morgue to identify a body they thought might be Blake. Now Reva and Josh are back together. Jenna came back to town, bringing a husband with her, evil Jeffrey Morgan. Jeffrey was not about to lose Jenna, even if that meant killing Buzz (Jeffrey tried to run him down), or blackmailing Jenna into staying with him (Jeffrey had proof in a safe deposit box in Switzerland that Jenna pulled all their heists). Thanks to an experimental drug and the help of her physical therapist, Michael Burke, Vanessa is almost recovered. Upset and not wanting to spoil their happiness, Vanessa decided to stay dead to her family and left Springfield. She went to the house that Matt was building for her and saw that work had stopped. This convinced her that Matt had given up on her. When Michael told Matt about Vanessa's reaction to the house, Matt became convinced that the house was the key to Vanessa returning so he set to work to finish it. Seems true. Vanessa returned the same night the house was completed.
